The download file is a Microsoft Installer file (.msi). To install, just click the "Download Now" link and when the File Download dialog box comes up, click either Run or Save.  If you choose Save, when the file download has completed, right click the .msi file and select "Install".  

For now, My SmartFolders only installs on Windows XP.

To uninstall My SmartFolders, go to "Add or Remove Programs" in the Control Panel and select My SmartFolders. When you uninstall, you will be given the option of keeping or deleting your Tags database.

To upgrade from an earlier version, simply go through the install process as if you're installing for the first time. Microsoft Installer will actually uninstall the existing version first, but your Tags database will be preserved.

When My SmartFolders is first installed, you are set up with a 21-day trial key. You may use the software without restrictions for 21 days. After this trial period, the software will disable itself. You may then either purchase your own license or uninstall the software.

When you purchase a license, you will receive a Registration Key by email. This key needs to be entered into the "Registration and Settings" screen. To simplify this process, you can copy the key into the clipboard (select and press ctrl-c). When you bring up the registration dialog box, the software will automatically find the key in the clipboard.
